Overview

John Hardy The Long Table, The Kitchen & The Jamu Bar in the heart of Bali offers a distinctive dining experience that melds tradition with modern comfort. Nestled along Jl. Petitenget in the tranquil Kerobokan Kelod area, this restaurant stands apart as a serene enclave away from Bali’s usual hustle. It’s a sanctuary for those who seek quiet sophistication paired with authentic Indonesian flavors.

The venue itself is intimate yet communal, centered around the long table concept—a nod to family-style dining common in Asian households. This thoughtful layout encourages connection among guests while maintaining an atmosphere of calm and contemplation. The absence of loud music allows diners to focus fully on their meal and company, enhancing the overall sensory experience.

The kitchen’s highlight is the Sambal Matah, a fresh and zesty Balinese condiment that punctuates many dishes with its crisp, aromatic spice. Alongside this, the menu features elevated Indonesian dishes crafted from local ingredients. Signature items such as the melt-in-your-mouth short ribs showcase a seamless blend of deep, rich flavors with careful plating that speaks to the culinary artistry behind each creation.

Complementing the food is the Jamu Bar, where traditional herbal tonics are reimagined into vibrant, healthful cocktails. These beverages not only refresh but also provide a cultural touchstone reflecting Indonesia’s rich wellness traditions. The bar’s mixologists exhibit remarkable skill, making each drink a highlight of the visit.

The dining experience is designed for an audience that values heritage with a refined twist—foreign visitors eager to savor Balinese cuisine in a setting that respects both the pace and the ritual of slow dining. Service here is exemplary: attentive yet unobtrusive, with staff who guide guests patiently through the sequence of courses, explaining each element thoughtfully.

While the menu leans toward milder, balanced flavors catering to international palates, the authenticity remains undeniable. The atmosphere and service combine to make every meal feel like a special occasion, perfect for intimate celebrations or those seeking a moment of respite from Bali’s more commercialized dining spots.

Overall, John Hardy The Long Table, The Kitchen & The Jamu Bar is a genuine gem—a place where culinary tradition meets modern hospitality in a setting both elegant and approachable. Whether you’re celebrating an anniversary or simply craving a mindful meal, this venue offers an experience worth savoring.

A very special find. Classy, intimate, amazing food, superb cocktails, all at a (very) reasonable price. So many places reviewed on Google and TripAdvisor (esp in Seminyak ) have high ratings but when you turn up they're average or worse (presumably there's a lot of review gaming going on). This place is a genuine gem and this is a genuine review.

must visit for foreigners looking for Balinese dining experience. Lunch is nice as you can see the tropical view under the sun. There are hardly any restaurant with such quiet peaceful atmosphere in Bali. Most popular places are loud and crowded - very much asian market feel. The ambiance is almost spiritual that you can focus on preparing yourself for the food and enjoying the company. Slow dining experience. The service was just very very nice - nonintrusive and they don't keep interrupting you thru out the meal as the sequence of service is kinda fix and trained. The food was presented very nicely and served family style pretty much how we do it in Asia household. The food is suitable for tourists where everything is mild and balanced. The food is not suitable for domestic tourists who are looking for anything authentic.

We had a fantastic experience at The Long Table! The elevated Indonesian dining featured thoughtfully crafted dishes with local ingredients. The attentive service and a warm welcome from the chef added to the charm. The short ribs were incredibly flavorful and melted in my mouth. Don’t miss the Jamu drinks; they’re a must-try! Highly recommend!

We went to the Long Table during our 18th anniversary weekend. It’s definitely place you want to be if you appreciate good food, great service, private dining experience, quiet atmosphere, yet still sharing the long table with other guests. We particularly loved their quiet setting without loud music blaring in our ears. For us, their dinner set menu with drink pairing was the right choice. Ibu Deasy, our server, and chef Tommy - took turn explaining every single dish, appetizers, desserts, and drink they served. Each with fresh natural ingredients, rooted in Indonesian culture with a twist that elevated the taste. Thank you John Hardy - you made our anniversary unforgettable.

This bar(?!) is definitely worth a visit if you're ever in Bali. The culinary talent of many local artists is on display. The personnel is exceptionally polite and accommodating. This place offers the best hospitality. The cocktails are also excellent. Even though the dish felt a little bit salty to me, the plating was excellent. The meal selection is the only regrettable part. It offers a limited variety of cuisine. Nevertheless, I would like to return here during the day.

Definitely one of the prettiest bars I’ve been to in Bali. The rooftop is incredible for a drink, with a stunning view of their garden. Cocktails were good, though not exceptional. Only downside: the food we tried wasn’t very impressive.

I had such a beautiful experience at John Hardy The Long Table & The Kitchen. It’s more than just a place to eat—it feels like you’re being welcomed into something truly special. The space itself is stunning, with a calming, natural atmosphere that makes you want to slow down and savor the moment. The food was incredible elevated, but still deeply rooted in traditional Indonesian flavors. Every dish felt intentional and thoughtfully prepared, with fresh ingredients and beautiful presentation. I also appreciated the warm, attentive service, it really added to the whole experience. This is the kind of place that leaves a lasting impression. Peaceful, inspiring, and filled with soul. I’d absolutely come back and recommend it to anyone visiting Bali who wants a meaningful and memorable dining experience
